Get your oil changed if you are close to needing one and ask them to check the fluids and tire pressure
+1. Unless you recently changed it, you probably want to get oil changed anyway. Have them check for long distance driving including all fluid levels and tire pressure.
Actually, if you are planning to take a long trip across the country and you are not used to doing basic servicing on your own car, take your car to a nationwide chain like Jiffy Lube. Get the oil change service. Then while you are on the road, if you have any questions, during the 3 months after a change, you can take the car to any Jiffy Lube and they will top off your fluids (including your windshield wiper fluid if you end up using a ton for dirt, mud, storms, bugs, like cicadas, etc), oil if needed and will check and refill your tire air pressure. In the past, when my wife took a couple of long car trips when I was doing her car maintenance, I would just take it to Jiffy Lube before her trip and tell her to go to a Jiffy Lube if she had any issues and let them do a check up on the fluids and tire pressure. Worth it for the cost of the oil change and so that she would not worry about those things on her trip.
How much do they charge? I pay 31 for my oil change and my mechanic would perform all safety checks for free.
Jiffy Lube is awful - I would never ever go there. So careless - they have a bad reputation for this. I’ve had more than one family never have major damage causes but them either not putting something back properly or actually leaving something IN the car that shouldn’t be there.
