…what are your teens doing after 10pm? My kids are usually in bed by 9:30 and I go to bed between 10:30 and 11pm. I know many tweens and teens that go to bed later than mine. I’m not judging, I’m curious what they’re doing. I feel like my kids wouldn’t know what to do for so many hours after dinner.
You have a very limited imagination. They do the same things they normally do during the day at home, except for maybe blaring music without headphones or instrument practice.
I guess I do have a limited imagination in this sense. But it does feel different to me. I’m thinking about when the time comes that they want to stay up later than me and my spouse. My kids are usually all over the house, watching tv in the living room, doing artwork in the basement, reading in the dining room, running to the backyard with the dogs, getting food in the kitchen. They aren’t the type to wander around once the house is “asleep” and we don’t let them have phones in their room at night yet. They are naturally early risers and haven’t fought us on the bedtime (we do let them read it listen to music until they are tired, it’s not a strict lights out, but they don’t usually stay up super late). If your kids stay up later than you, do they make sure the doors are locked and all the lights are out before going to bed? Do they tend to stay in their room? If they stay up many hours past dinner do they get hungry again? I do sound naive, but I’m just trying to think about the near future, I know the earlier bedtime won’t be forever.
