OP, no one knows. Anyone who claims to know is full of it. But I’ll join the speculation. I think the only way Shepherd comes out of the Wilson feeder pattern is if Lafayette does, as well, and I think that’s highly unlikely, given that DCPS does not seem to be considering building a new HS in northern Ward 3/4.
These schools are in Ward 4 - they can go to school at Ward 4 high schools, surely.
Some people only focus on W3 and it shows. Roosevelt High, ward 4, is already at 140% capacity. Wilson is 102% Coolidge high, ward 4, is undetermined for capacity for a few years since they just renovated and Wells Middle just opened 2 years ago. Wells Middle, ward 4, is only 197 students for 6th grade two years ago. Assuming they stay on that path, when they have full enrollment this fall, they will be at 600 students for capacity of 561. This doesn’t take into account that the schools with the worst overcrowding are not in Ward 3. They are in Ward 4. Barnard, Wells feeder is at 128% Brightwood, Wells feeder is at 117% There are no W3 schools close to those numbers other than Stoddert which is being addressed. Ward 3 middle and high don’t reflect as badly as these schools in terms of capacity. So please again say which Ward 4 middle and high do you want Lafayette and Shepherd kids to attend?
Roosevelt is not at 140 percent capacity. It has 768 students enrolled in a (basically brand-new) school with a capacity of 1,110. https://profiles.dcps.dc.gov/Roosevelt+High+School You're just making up numbers. Nice try, though.
Barnard also feeds into MacFarland. I'd love someone to fact check PP because they raise an interesting point, but I don't know what's accurate.
