It is a problem.  All the committed players don't want to have to go but feel they must because the results count and the early commits are often strong players.  And they don't want to take playing time from uncommitted team mates but they had to spend the time and money to go as well so want to play.  ECNL could fix this so easyil by just having the event be a showcase with self contained results that don't spill over and pollute the playoff standings.[/quote]

The coach and club are concerned with this.  Some committed players will not attend but they that does not mean that the club is not expecting them to show up.  IMO opinion it would best to have pure showcase events and pure tournament events but not mix them up.[/quote]

The point was, the coach does not have to coach the event for the sole purpose of results. If they have kids who are not yet recruited the coach will play them. This isn't that hard.[/quote]

It isn't hard at all. A club coach during prime recruiting years is going to what is necessary to get players committed. It doesn't really matter what you call the event. How hard is this to understand?
