Lower east side is far more.hip and prestigious.
Mawahahahaha!!!! That's hysterical. Love the answers on this board from people who have NO CLUE about Manhattan. OP -- the West Village is one of the most expensive, and prettiest, neighborhoods in Manhattan. It's got quirkier smaller apartments, although there are more and more luxury buildings, there are many fewer than the UES. Do you picture yourself in a brownstone, or low-rise, lining up for brunch, dropping big bucks at teeny little shops and very hop restaurants, sipping coffee while walking on cobblestone streets, swinging but are south end of the High Line, and Wash Sqy. Park? Being around rich but hip & arty folks? If so, maybe it's for you. If you want lots of families, more space, easy access to Central Park than it's not. The real questions is san you afford it?
