Re: Sligo, I have not heard much.  My kids are slotted for Newport and many in the neighborhood either are going to magnets and immersion schools.  The few who are going to Newport are smart kids and the parents like the school.  The parents who were just slotted for Sligo (based on the recent changes) are taking a wait and see approach if their kids are in elementary school.

On the other hand, we were concerned about Sligo because of fighting/bullying.  Last year they had 50 suspensions, mostly for fighting.  Then again, compare that to Cabin John MS in Potomac with much fewer incidents (~18), but 3 suspensions for arson/explosives and 3 for weapons.

I volunteer at Sligo because the Kindergartners from Oakland are there.  Never saw a disturbance while there.
