I am voting for McClellan even though I know McAuliffe will probably win. I never really liked him, dating back to the time when he was an extremely partisan fundraiser in the Clinton days. I will admit he was better as Governor than I anticipated, but he's still about as genuine as a two-dollar bill. He looks at polls and Tweets and comes out with seemingly progressive positions, but he also lives in a very segregated part of McLean, where the local politicians do everything they can to keep it that way. McClellan has been in the state legislature for over a decade. She seems sincere to me. I heard her speak at one event, and she was thoughtful and gracious. Her policies seem aligned with those of the Biden Administration. Not as frenetic as McAuliffe, but that's OK. The other candidates don't appeal to me. Lee Carter is a radical socialist with the maturity of your typical teenager; Jennifer Carroll Foy is running a campaign based almost entirely on her own race and gender, not issues; and Justin Fairfax has not managed to extricate himself from the past allegations of sexual misconduct.
OP here. Yeah my issue with Carroll Foy is her campaign is really playing up her race and gender which just turns me off. McClellan doesn’t do that. That being said Carroll Foy does have some detailed policy proposals as well so I need to take a hard look at both and compare.
I got a mailer with from McClellan with pictures of all her black family members before her.
I mean McClellan is black. Of course she will have a picture of her black family. What’s wrong with that? But check out Carroll Foy’s Twitter. She reminds us that she’s black and she’s a woman every five tweets.
This. McClellan is black, both of her parents are black. Black people come in many shades and she is light skin black. I went to law school with her. She's very smart. I really wish McAullife had not come back to run because IMO she had an excellent chance of winning.
