I'm a Christian, so I won't commit suicide.
This is the oddest thing i've read on this board in days. I mean, AS IF! C'mon lady- a little holier than thou are we? Do you preface all your judgemental comments this way?
No, it's really not odd. Christians believe if you commit suicide you cannot enter Heaven. She doesn't mean she's too "good" for suicide or being a Christian makes her above it, she just means that her belief system prohibits her from considering it because she wants to enter Heaven when she dies.
Not PP, but it is odd in that in order to abide by the Christian/suicide statement it implies that a person is in their right mind when chosing suicide. Christians commit suicide all of the time. It doesn't make them any less Christian. It makes them a flawed human. Suicide is much deeper than making a choice to end ones life.
No one said that all people were able to overcome committing the act. I'm a Christian and quite frankly if my children died like this, I would find my faith a burden because I wouldn't be able to release myself from the pain. I would *wish* I could commit suicide, but what would be the purpose if my children are in Heaven and I'm in hell? So, that is what would prevent me from going through with such an act.
