It's no different than all the people who traveled to FL or SC or Tx or CA or wherever, so if you would go or have been to those places, then there is no difference. If you are the type who wouldn't go to those places, then maybe stay home from Mexico. But yes. I'd go. We went in January actually.
It is different because if you get sick in Mexico, the uS won’t let you fly back in. If you are one of the unlucky ones who tests positive for a long time, you are screwed. The idea of getting to Tijuana from my cushy resort in Cabo and then walking across the border is not that exciting to me.
I looked into that once actually and it is a really really long drive from Cabo to the border. And not a particularly safe drive either—there’s some pretty deserted areas. You might even be better taking a boat across sea of cortes and then driving on the mainland up to Arizona, which would be a drive you could do in a day, but there are stretches where it would just be you and the coyotes (and I don’t mean the canines). I would just worry about going to any country that is having a serious covid problem, worried about the effects on the hospitals and the infrastructure generally. Unfortunately, a lot of Latin America is in that place now. Costa Rica seems like it’s doing pretty well, and I would consider it before my beloved Mexico right now.
