I’ve seen recently many posts referencing YNT zoom call or something. What is the pathway these days to YNT for girls? Is it ODP and laddering up from there? National leagues like ECNL/GAL? Something else?
ODP is one route, but they have to go all the way to the tippy top and be invited to a national camp. College soccer for women is still very important. If a girl is head and shoulders above the competition in a top 25 program — it’s likely she’ll be contacted.
ODP is not putting kids in YNT
ODP regional kids will get a look. I don't care what you think of ODP but any kid who makes the top regional level is a pretty good soccer player.
Pretty good soccer players do not get YNT call-up’s. ODP is not a path to YNT. It has not been for 15 years.
Find me the ODP kid that got a call up.. recently .. in the past 6 years.
Getting a look and getting a call up are two different things. You would need to go through individual player bios to determine if the players have had any ODP experience. You can check you snobbery at the door because not participating in ODP isn't making a difference in your kid getting called up either. There are less than 30 spots per age group so ODP or no ODP one league or platform is not going to make a bit of difference.
It absolutely makes a difference. If you are playing ODP - you are not likely spending your time on the appropriate team to get a look a call up a chance.
What the hell are you talking about? ODP is 1.5 hours a week and club obligations always take priority. Regional teams practice less.
