What about the DL secondary kids that would have chosen 4 days? The only option offered to DL was 2 days.
I think that you could always try to switch back to hybrid. The schools can only plan for what they have. With so many opting out is created much more flexibility.
No she’s saying it’s not fair that people who picked 2 day hybrid could now get 4 days since she’d have picked it if she knew it would escalate to 4 days. Of course this is schroedingers selection because had all the parents picked hybrid then it wouldn’t be possible to do 4 days now. But we can’t move to the 4 days we can do with these numbers because then the people who didn’t select it want in the pool.
They are already sliding kids into 4 day who ask on the secondary level. My child is one of them. Furthermore I know for an absolute fact this is being discussed to expand hybrid for those who chose it. It was very clearly stated that you could choose hybrid and slide back to DL, but not the other way around, though I will say principals are being flexible when they can. You had to have known going into this that things are constantly changing? Just like I know having a kid who is now in the building 4 days days week, in 2 weeks time he could be back home. Only constant here is change.
I’m a teacher. What your school allowed your kid won’t apply everywhere. Not all kids have IEPs. Not all schools have space to let kids come 4 days. If you asked and got it, great, but that’s not a universal and I don’t think we can say for sure that hybrid will expand to 4 day without a reselect because of space issues. So far no kid at my school is coming 4 days.
Actually the poster was spot on. Not only is it highly likely to start q4 , there will NOT be a re-select I'm also lcps staff that long before today's board meeting knows doe a fact this had already been in the works behind closed doors. We've been preparing. I'll also say nobody has been discouraged from allowing for 4 day flexibility now for the current secondary hybrid kids and I'll leave it at that.
None of what you said disagrees with what I posted. It is all at YOUR school. This is varying from school to school to classes even. What one mom was able to get her kid at her school doesn’t mean everyone can if they ask. Clearly there is a desire for 4 day that schools want to honor if possible. Some can and some can’t. Classes at independence could go up to 20 kids. Some classes at other schools would get only up to 6-7.
