Folks, in a mainstream classroom we teach the lesson, math for example, according to how we always present that new material. Those who pick it up quickly go farther with the practice which takes them to more complex work. Those who struggle with the concept because they are behind or just need more time to understand get more support. “Teaching to the middle” in elementary is perfectly appropriate. If your child is in middle or high school they should be placed in a more advanced or more remedial class as needed. More resource teachers to support students who are behind will be necessary next year and it’s perfectly appropriate for funds to support that.[/quote]
