agree.  at least cut back.  I did it.  while so many are exploring new things,  the athletes are stuck doing the same old same old that  most have been at for a dozen years.

I appreciate it helps gets access to the education for some reason  but then they don't even get to take full advantage of their time at the institution because they are committed to so many hours for sports.  makes little sense.[/quote]

Dartmouth just tried to cut 5 sports and ended up walking it back a few months later and the AD is now 'retiring'. They were even going to close down the golf course, not sure if that now stays open.

Honestly who cares how schools are grouped? The Ivy League has meaning to many people beyond a sports league. Nothing wrong with calling a group of top state schools public Ivies. Having attended an Ivy, and having had a kid who attended a top flagship school which is, dare I say, a public Ivy, I can assure you we both received top notch educations.[/quote]
