Everything was taken from Native Americans and their population decimated.  For many Americans these people are invisible outside of the occasional visit to a casino on a reservation. Do other Native American tribes object to the use of their name in non-disparaging ways? I don’t have a problem with it, but I didn’t even know it was an issue until today.  They have every right to fight for their culture and heritage. I don’t think they will win this battle now, but it’s a conversation worth having. Jeep’s response that the Cherokee name was carefully selected and nurtured over the years to honor and celebrate native Americans comes across like a tone deaf lie.[/quote]

They will rename it because now the brand is tainted and not as many customers will want to buy it.  That is really all they care about.[/quote]
