It’s actually turned out to be a plus in the pandemic, oddly enough, because they had already established good methods of socializing remotely. That’s going to be the case with any magnet program, though. But after going to both ES and MS magnets, my kid felt pretty confident they’d be likely to know someone in whatever HS they ended up at. “Where their friends were going” didn’t even factor into their decisions.
