One other question— do you pump, and if so, is pumping also painful on that side?
I do pump and there’s no pain. Baby is gaining weight fine according to the pediatrician, but is at 12th percentile for weight, down from 50th percentile at 3 weeks. I have moved to almost exclusive breastfeeding from supplementing (jaundice) so I’m guessing that’s part of the decline in percentile. He feeds for 30 minutes but is often still hungry so the pediatrician said to supplement to get to three hours between feeds. I’m going to make some calls Monday morning and get a second opinion and explore some options. The Instagram pages someone recommended were very informative and convinced me it’s worth at least re-exploring.
Pp here and glad those pages were helpful. Seeing your follow up honestly that ent sounds really awful. You can go somewhere where they use a laser and it is very quick and should not look at all like what was described based on my friends reports. Woof. That being said, it can be true it’s not like things will magically change just addressing the tie, usually there is tension that has developed as well and you have to do exercises etc. It’s a process but I can say I’ve had multiple friends have reductions in pain after the tie procedure so it can happen, though maybe what he should have said is that nothing is a guarantee. Glad you are going to get a second opinion! There are so many signs that there is something more going on, the more you post. The feeding for 30 minutes and still being hungry also is a potential indication of inefficient feeding due to latch. Glad you will see someone who has specific expertise in ties.
