I really don’t think it will start earlier than 8/30. March isn’t enough notice to move the school year earlier.
On the other hand, this would be a good year to start two weeks before labor day on 8/23. The school system was moving in that direction before Hogan's dictate about starting after Labor Day. Many other school systems start earlier in August. An earlier start means more time to prepare for late May testing season and would either allow ending 2 weeks after Memorial day (that 3rd week is a waste) or allowing more flexibility around breaks, depending on how holidays fall and whether there are elections. Personally, I'd prefer an earlier start (as both a parent and a teacher). It aligns better with the colleges. Ideally, I'd like to see us get closer to the semester idea where the first semester ENDS before winter break.
