I honestly don't understand #1. #2/#3 sure but spinning without clipping in is like jogging...I dunno, what the equivalent would be. You're sacrificing a huge chunk of the effort. Making it simultaneously easier on effort but harder in ways more likely to get you injured. Get cages for your sneakers at least to get the most out of it. I have a peloton and am in the cult so no helpful advice on alternatives.
What a bizarre person you are. I’ve been to many spin studios where you don’t clip in. this isn’t new. Did you spin before peloton?
PP here, yes I did. And I went for awhile without shoes and used the cages and then bought spin shoes. Was super annoyed I had to buy new shoes with look delta's to be compatible with peloton instead of using my old shoes. I found that when I was using the cages that I was noticeably less able to pull up therefore losing some efficiency. When I went to my very first class and tried to use pedals without cages I almost fell off the bike. No way anyone should be regularly in and out of the saddle without, at least, cages
I commend you: PP, for responding in such a neutral and informative manner. OP surely did not deserve it.
