I’ve read that Covid is “surging” in my area (FCPS), but from what I see on VDH’s site the % positivity and cases by onset of symptoms have been dropping the past few weeks. One of the metrics schools use is %positive, correct?
The surge is coming back down and has been for about a week now.
That's incorrect. Where did you read that? Kimberly Adams' facebook page? The important number is the 7 day percent positivity rate. That has been steadily and slowly dropping.
That number is A number, but VDOE says the school's most important number is transmission in schools. If transmission in schools is low, then they can have "priority learners" plus anyone else whom they have space for, allowing for mitigation measures, in school. Transmission in schools is the most important number.
