+1 -- It's also important to note as a couple of PPs did that this horrible crime extended throughout the city and beyond into Evanston, near the Northwestern campus.  This is not a problem that stops at the Chicago city limits.     [/quote]

The spree ended nowhere near the Northwestern campus. And in fact, the spree ended precisely because the shooter crossed the border over into Evanston and was promptly stopped by Evanston police. I agree that Chicago is a wonderful city and that this event is an aberration rather than a rule, but let's be very clear that Evanston (and most parts of the north side of Chicago) are virtually indistinguishable from any other city in the U.S. when it comes to crime and safety.[/quote]
