Sports are on. LoCo sports is constantly tweeting pics of basketball players wearing their masks wrong. Not covering mouth or nose. One board member said maybe we should just stop requiring masks then. They didn’t choose that but it’s clear sports will have lots of close contacts (25 from one student alone at Dominion) because of this. Oh well. As for hybrid return this semester, it’ll happen, but when is uncertain. We have to dip below 200/100k or 10% PCR for 5 days. As of yesterday we are at 419/100k and 17% PCR. So if will likely take awhile. I can envision us getting in a week before spring break, going on spring break, then coming back and finishing Q3 while starting concurrent. Because the board does shit like that a lot. Q4 will be in person I am certain. Staff vaccinations will happen in Q3, but it’ll take time. The sign up immediately filled and crashed yesterday for the two days they had available. Truly nobody knows exactly how long it will take those numbers to drop below threshold and stay. I don’t foresee it happening before March at the earliest. Once they start to approach the threshold we will be on alert and it’ll resume once they stay there 5 days. So when you see either get close to either that 200/100k or 10%, start getting ready because the phasing will happen quickly. I see 0% chance we aren’t in for Q4. 50/50 on whether they attempt to try the last couple weeks of Q3. Spring break is March 29 week and the quarter ends the week after spring break.
APS employees (not me) were able to make appointments in Sterling with plenty of available spots through VAMS.
Loudoun is doing it’s own thing though. We are only to be using our “POD.” Other LCPS teachers who tried other sites were told Loudoun badges wouldn’t be accepted there. And they shouldn’t. Our county has its own supply of vaccines and a plan allegedly. I’m not stealing another county’s because mine can’t get it together. Meanwhile another email to sign up was send out today - for everyone I know the link is blank and dead or it goes to a scheduling page where there’s no available dates any day between now and end of February. Cool.
