Time to get vaccinated, teachers, and open the schools back up! No more excuses.
Yes, they will go back Feb 22/23 (7 days after the 2nd shot) as a worse case. They can open earlier if the FCC PCR percentage positive stays below 8% for 7 days (today was 7.9%, so day 1).
VDH revised the numbers- FCC has been at 7.9 for 5 days now.
Noonan said he may not wait until the second shot if metrics improve. They will open sooner. They are so close. He should wait for teachers to be fully vaccinated since they are scheduled.
I didn't hear him saying may not wait, I heard him saying we will go back 1) when metric is met or 2) when teachers fully vaccinated, whichever happens first. I disagree about waiting for 2nd shot. It's not scheduled yet and alot could happen to delay it. Plus that is another 4 weeks without in person learning. 4 weeks is insignificant to adults, but huge for young children who have been out of school since March. He should really reopen on Thursday- but barring that, the next Tuesday.
In a teacher and we were told they will have someone come in and vaccinate all of us in 4 weeks for the second shot the same way they are scheduling the first shot on Monday. It will be scheduled. My personal opinion is it is irresponsible for him to bring back the entire district instead of select cohorts when this has been scheduled. At a minimum, cohort 3 (middle and high) should wait since teenagers transmit this like adults.
They are still social distancing. Still wearing masks. Still doing the other mitigations. Plus a vaccine. Other schools have been back this whole time with less mitigations and have been doing fine and educating their kids.
