But if you look at what a private school is doing you can certainly replicate some of those mitigation strategies within each smaller public school.  For example, FCPS could have opened elementary schools with some type of staggered or hybrid schedule by now.  Schools could have made use of outdoor spaces while the weather was better given what we know about transmission and air circulation.  There are plenty of private schools that are similarly sized as individual public schools and making it work.

How many total private students in the DC area are back in school?  That would probably be a more accurate comparison point that one single private school compared to an entire school system.  Yes, there are still differences of course, but certain things could be replicated and used as models for the public system.  Not to mention, plenty of other public school systems in the country have managed to open.  It is not a given impossibility, with some creative thinking, proper mitigation and tailored approaches.
