Here is how you can tell if its seizures or a tic.  During an episode ask your child something they would really care about..."do you want a cookie?", "do you want to go to the park?" Or do something silly like still your tongue out at them... if its a tic as soon as its over they will respond. That is how you know they have conscious thought during, but can not answer due to an uncontrollable tic.
Once I told the doctor this he said its only a tic...he was proud of me for thinking to do this...I'm saying this part because no one cares for your child like you and YOU can't just trust doctors. Do your own research...see different doctors and push them. Also they wanted to strap my child down to do the EEG and the MRI when putting her to sleep I refused. I said let me talk to my child...she understands and deserves a chance. They were all skeptics but I proved them all wrong andy child did amazing...what would be scarier your mom saying they will put this mask on you while mommy holds you or being strapped down?
Sorry for the rant. My daughter is now 4 and has no tics.
