Why is it surprising? My kids are flailing at home and basically haven’t learned a damn thing since March. Is it too much to ask the governor to acknowledge that kids being out of school is a public crisis with its own set of harms. He has said next to nothing since his announcement IN JULY that schools can open. I’m a D and am so fed up w this nonsense w the schools. Why are indooor bars open and not schools? It makes no sense that our children are bearing the brunt of the burdens when they have the smallest risk. When can we stop pretending that DL is working for our youngest learners. Bravo to the small minority making it work. The rest of our kids, especially non-readers, are being left tragically behind. [/quote]

Have you people never heard of a SCHEDULE?!? My husband is an entrepreneur and up til 2-3 am most nights, I’m an attorney working from
home and our 6&2 year olds are thriving. My almost 3 year old is reading short words, my 6 year old has taken up baking, started a garden, is on a 5th grade reading level and a 4th grade math.

I genuinely understand high pressure jobs, I do. What I don’t understand is leaving your kids to flail. Even if they’re extroverted, make virtual play dates, give them a schedule to which they contribute and cut screen time outside of school.

It’s not too late to turn it around.
