There is no need to do anything but since it is in your memory, I think a mention of it via call or text would be nice. No need for anything formal. My DC have great Godparents and 2 out of 6 are non-Catholics. And they are  actually the best at the 'job'. They keep in contact with DC separate from us by call on their birthdays and checking in around holidays. One who is close will take DC out from time to time to different events she likes.  But one is overseas currently and will reach out in some way a few time a year directly to DC. It has been great to watch those relationships continue. IMO kids need adults outside their family to feel connected to and a Godparent is a perfect fit for this.

I think life is so stressful for so many right now, I know I would be really touched if someone reached out with a nice note regarding just about anything![/quote]
