If kids were reading Romeo and Juliet you could use Love Story since it’s an allusion. I’ve used some of her songs with The Crucible. Paired texts to apply theme across genre. OP is going to look like a damn idiot if she complains about this, it is sound teaching. Intro the concept, show kids how they already recognize it or do it in something familiar/accessible, then model transferring the skill. This is a R E A C H . [/quote]
