I’m not a sahm so this isn’t a post bashing working moms but for me and my childhood my mom being a “homemaker” made my childhood very idealistic. She sewed our dance costumes, cooked a lot, read to us out loud for hours, taught us how to ski, lead our Girl Scout troop, and other random things that took hours and hours and days and days that she genuinely had to give. None of it was taxing to her either. I think she enjoyed it. It’s not for everyone but if you like it and it works for your marriage I think it can be a wonderful thing.
I'm glad my mom worked. She didn't enjoy being a parent. All of those thing are nice and ideal but kids having all their basic needs met, stable parents who put them first and not brought into adult issues are our priorities.
