MSDE is working hard on childcare, which is the topic on which Dr. Salmon is making an announcement. She continues to encourage local systems to bring students back for in person learning. In childcare facilities, the State has seen very few cases in childcare settings, due in part to capacity restrictions. When capacity increased from 10-15, the State did not see significant increased cases. Childcare centers can now return to previous ratios - up to 30 school aged students. Hopefully, this action will assist in limiting unregulated, unlicensed pandemic pods, where the safety of children cannot be guaranteed. Start up grants for eligible in family child care providers. We need to return to full capacity to meet the State's childcare needs. Hopes that this compliments school system efforts to bring students back into classrooms.[/quote]
