Advice? How do I get rid of this thing? My kiddo is 2.5 years old and is obsessed with it. We've tried limiting it to the crib, but well... sometimes I'm soft and just give it to him to avoid the tantrum. Tell me the strategy that worked for you to get rid of it!
Cold turkey at 3. We only allowed at nap at nighttime and he was obsessed and would always be looking for them during the day. His dentist said it really doesn't become an issue as long as limited to sleep until around 3. He was totally getting paci teeth though. For the week leading up to his birthday we stressed that when boys turn three, they have to say goodbye to their paci. A few days after his birthday we snipped them in front of him and then walked them together to the trash and actually watched the truck take them away so that he understood they weren't hidden anywhere. He asked for them at nap and bedtime for a few days and then it was over.
