We are in the same boat. Moving from DC to Davidsonville. Not a lot on the market right now but we are interested in Harbor Hills, Eagles Passages and Ashland neighborhoods. Good luck OP!
How old are your kids? Ashley has nice homes, but Harbor Hills and Eagles are much more family friendly. If you have younger kids in elementary school, I would focus on those neighborhoods. Ashley has more older kids and much less of a "neighborhood" vibe.
We, too, are looking in Davidsonville. Love Harbor Hills, and there are a couple of nice houses on the market now. How much do the kids in the neighborhood get together to play, versus staying inside/going to other neighborhoods? The ideal is that the kids can just go outside or to friends houses nearby without having the parents have to arrange much of anything.
Harbor Hills is very kid friendly and all of the kids all ride their bikes to friends homes and also to the community pool in the summer. And the parents are VERY social as well. In normal times, there are Friday night BBQs at the Clubhouse and the neighborhood organizes lots of events for the kids. Eagles Passages has a similar vibe as well.
