Man, I wish I knew about SPD when I was pregnant...I complained to my OB it felt like someone was slowly ripping my body apart at the groin and she said "well, someone basically is..." I was definitely in serious pain walking starting around 33 weeks...gave birth at 37 weeks.
I'm the PP above whose SPD started at 18 weeks. I did a lot of googling. Then I called my OB and she said "yeah...that's common and is just going to get worse as you go along. You can call us for a PT referral later if you need one." I got the PT referral anyway. I questioned whether I was overreacting and being whiny because maybe pregnant people feel this way all the time? I waited a couple weeks to call. At that point, I was practically in tears when walking up stairs. When I started with the PT she confirmed what was going on and now the pain is there but more manageable. Some level of discomfort is normal in pregnancy but if something HURTS you don't have to suck it up and accept it.
