There are families that paying for the CogAT would be prohibitively expensive, not only finding the money for the test but the time to take the child to the test in terms of time off of work. Just because many people can afford doesn't mean that everyone can. One of the recommendations from the equity report was that private testing not be allowed, like the WISC, because it is not something available to all and reinforces the socioeconomic gap that exists in AAP. And yes, that Socioeconomic gap is highly correlated with race. [/quote]
