My guess is people will just start leaving their cell phones back at the room. Do social gatherings old school style where you agreed on the date/time/place to meet in advance.
OMG that's hysterical! College kids sneaking off of campus in the middle of the night leaving their call phones at home to meet up somewhere... Truth is, kids will just get two phones, won't they?
Yes. I wonder if the app can tell that the phone has been unused for an hour. Something young people never do.
Right, like if after an hour of inactivity it buzzes, and you must enter your personal pin to show you are there (this is a feature of some on line training courses for example - you must enter something periodically to prove you are actually still watching). But what about mid-day napping? The period of time would have to be long enough for a nap, which is also long enough for a party. In any case. sure there will be ways around it, but it will prevent most abuses. Only those very determined to violate it will do so, and so it narrows the number of bad apples and probably increases their chance of getting caught, especially if they get sick and their contact tracing doesn't match thier phone history.
