Smaller/lighter shin guards
My son doesn't wear shin guards to practice. He only wears them when mandatory for formal games. What would shin guards have to do with feet anyway? Thanks.
As a former player, and current coach may I politely ask you to please encourage and promote your child to wear shin guards during practices. Builds character (he won’t be comfortable and rightly so), makes him used to it so during games they don’t bother, and most importantly for his health. Would be a shame if he got injured from a preventable situation....
I 100% agree with you. Every single word. I do. However, only ONE kid on his team wears shin guards to practice. The kids in general haven't worn shin guards for probably two years. His coach allows it and I would say...promotes it. He played in college and Europe and elsewhere too and still plays. My son also has done lots and lots of supplemental training with various companies and it seems like kids just don't wear shin guards anymore and I just got done arguing with him. I don't understand it. I don't. With that said, when he does need to wear them for games, he doesn't complain that they aren't comfortable. I think it's just about being LAZY!
