Nurse here. I've had a few wives/girlfriends get mad at me for doing necessary care. I figure they are just stressed out about the hospital situation and directing their stress at me.
Oh THIS makes sense! It's like getting mad at your kids for almost getting hit by a car through no fault of their own.
Yeah. I've found that people who feel like they have no control over a situation (so maybe your wife in relation to your heart attack and having potentially lost you) act on weird situations that they feel like they can control. Often it defies logic (a newly paralyzed patient refusing repositioning to prevent a pressure ulcer even though they know how bad they are). I try not to let it bother me. Haha most patients and family members aren't crazy, they can just act irrationally given the stress and anxiety. Now, that's not to say there aren't crazies and jerks out there lol. Op if this is a one time thing, I'd just let it go and figure it was a weird manifestation of her own stress and anxiety. I can't imagine DH being in the hospital with a heart attack and me not be able to see him. I'd be going nuts at home!!
