I don’t understand the hesitation. Your Pediatrician recommends a COVID test, your kid has symptoms. Get the test today. It takes 20 seconds or less in each nostril. I have had it done. It was not downright awful. Perhaps your tester was overly zealous. It’s certainly no worse than a shot or giving blood. Have it done today.
Honestly, I was in disbelief (and I’m hormonal; see comment about newborn at home). The test isn’t great and maybe I just need to accept it’s the way things are now. Just seems like an ear check and strep test would be a better start.
PP from before. My DD was first visited because the pediatrician did not believe she had COVID... I was the one insisting for the test... the drive through was for the rest of the family. My DD’s ears were red and so was her throat, but that might have been because she hates going to the doctor and cries like crazy... or it could have been the virus. Her lungs were totally clear, she never coughed, never had a cold and apart from 2 days of fever and diarrhea was totally fine. Also, doctor believes that she is now out of the woods for any Kawasaki related infections. Good luck OP... the test is much worse on adults and older children than it is on very young ones like mine
