So if a team is comprised of 10 or more players, they won’t be allowed to play or obtain a permit? Do coaches and parents count towards the total? If the bars start to open, then the fields and courts should be fully open , no restrictions! Why punish kid sports?
Our baseball team is starting practice next week. I don’t think field permits have been issued, but since fields are open, practice is starting. The practice will be in small groups (not the full team) until the 10 person limit is lifted. So instead of practicing twice a week like they would normally, 6 kids will attend practice on Monday and the other six will attend on Thursday, with both coaches going to both practices. Parents are not allowed to stay, except one parent will sign up to stay and be responsible for pointing out if kids are getting too close and giving out hand sanitizer. So that’s how they’ll get under the 10 person limit. We’ve been told that the governor has a group working on guidance on how to return to youth sports, and that that plan will be released Tuesday. Our program is concerned that games won’t even be allowed during Phase 2 (even though Phase 2 allows gatherings of up to 50 people), but who knows.
