We just cancelled our two week vacation to two National Parks. The Parks each sent out a notice that the Lodges, restaurants, and stores in them are going to be closed. They are hiring 1/3 of the normal staff because the seasonal staff live in dormitories at the Park. We are planning on swapping out for renting a house on the river for a week. we can go and chill in the river, do some kayaking, and swim while being isolated. We will go to the pool if it is open. We will probably allow for play dates with families that we trust. But I think that people who think that they can have a "normal" summer are in for a surprise. A good number of places are not going to be open. Partially because of social distancing issues but partially because many places hire foreign workers and that might not be possible. The places that are going to be open will not be at the same capacity. So pools are probably going to limit the number of people in the poll area, water parks are going to limit numbers, parks are going to restrict number. There are going to be spikes in the number of cases. Things are not going to go smoothly. And if you want to take those extra risks so that your kids can have a normal summer, then good for you. We will find ways to have a good summer but it is not going to be what we planned for.
