These are the three I looked at too because I was looking for the same as you. Ended up touring and ranking HT, FCS, and Calverton. All are very very lightly religious or non-religious. All strong schools. Poster from 03/08/2020 18:43 - where are you choosing to go for next year? Sorry to hear this about HT - indeed worrisome. Let us know. It's so hard given distance learning now - especially if it continues into the fall. Hard decisions.
Poster from 3/8/20 - We chose a school in DC after realizing most of the schools on PG are religious and basically just a slight step up from public. After speaking to parents at Holy Trinity (alot of which whose children will not be returning) and visiting again, I was not impressed. The admissions lady did alot of boasting and bragging but when asked about academics and curriculum, she somehow ended up talking about how prestigious the school was and the "it" people (assistant district attorney, etc.) who was attending.
Yes! Same vibe we got from her. They are holding on to an old reputation it seems. She really rubbed me the wrong way and I was not at all impressed with the early childhood program. We found it so odd that we weren’t allowed to enter the classrooms. The teacher actually told us on the tour that they had so few students enrolled for the preschool program that she didn’t even know if there would be a class this year. So many red flags.
Right. They took us in the library. Then for the assessment, we had to wait in the library again and they took the children out. Apparently they have a new head of lower school and when I asked about the curriculum, she said it is the curriculum of the head of Daisy Lane school. Yea, we will pass!
