As someone with a PhD from a state school in a STEM program that is ranked higher than ANY Ivy in it's field, I would go to Cornell. Lots of students start school thinking they are going to major in X and it doesn't work out. At Cornell, any old Y major is likely much more than 20 places in the rankings than Y major at state school. That idea goes double in terms of jobs. While CS may seem like it can weather any economic down turn, even when a down turn means lots of CS jobs shipped over seas, what if DC graduates in major Y? [/quote]
