Because MCPS thinks they know better. Remember Curriculum 2.0? They were going to create the best thing out there, sell it and make a mint. Oh wait, an audit showed it was a complete disaster, generations of kids grew up with their crap, and they haven't learned their lesson: Those who do not learn history are doomed to repeat it.
How long were they using 2.0 that “generations” of kids grew up with it? Also, agree with the PP that admins aren’t checking here for your feedback. But I’m sure their email addresses are posted on the website.
New poster here Their curriculum development didn't start with 2.0 (as evident in the 2.0 name). My kids were pre-2.0, and as I understand it, 2.0 was actually an improvement in teaching Science and Social Studies. They had been trying to market their previous curriculums and had been mostly unsuccessful. My oldest is now a Junior in college, but I was reading about problems with the curriculum before she started kindegarten. That's close to 20 years that I personally have knowledge of. My understanding is that a generation refers to a 20 year span. By this standard, I would say that an entire generation was impacted by the disaster that was MCPS curriculum, and it may have been more.
