As the quote from Laver's indicates, they are facing some real logistical issues if they grow too quickly. It seems clear that they aren't willing to compromise on the experience of the member clubs just to include all exDA clubs. With regard to realignment, looking at the map, there are lots of ways to cut it, but the MA conference is already one of the tighter packed conferences geographically. If you're going to have an elite national league, there is going to be travel involved.
