I think it was the bragging about the bumper that people are calling a safety disaster.  And what the hell are you talking about failing to lower the mattress??  What does that have to do with falling down inside the crib?

OP, as some others have said, my son falls and bangs his head into the crib all the time and the wood seems much softer to me.  He also chews on the crib and again, the wood is much softer--and thus we have lovely little beaver teething marks.  I LOVE the look of the iron cribs, too, but since you are asking, I really think wood is better.  [/quote]
