I’m not sure what you’re trying to prove. I agreed with you that I don’t like his style, his teams are often not the protagonists and I wouldn’t want him in charge of my team, but he IS one of the greatest managers of the 21st century. There’s also a big difference between a manager and a coach. I think hindsight has shown that the clubs he’s been at in recent years were a shambles on an administrative level, and it’s easy for people to make him the fall guy. Further, he’s won at every one of them, so I’m not sure how you can call it a failure. As impressive as Conte was at Chelsea, he lasted less than Mourinho did in either one of his stints, they got a transfer ban and have now appointed Lampard who is in over his head. You want to really see failure, look at Manchester United in between Fergie leaving and Jose’s tenure, when they actually won something, then look at the mediocrity now under Ole. Again, no one is disputing that he may be past it, and yet his team did just beat the back-to-back Premier League Champions.
If you think he may be past it, then why do you keep posting? Let's all just say it then. He's past it. Time to retire.
Look, we’re both nobodies posting on an anon forum. Neither one of us is anywhere close to qualified enough to be able to gauge if he’s “past it” or not, doesn’t matter what we say. He’s in his 50s, not done yet.
So you start off by declaring yourself unqualified to have an opinion and then finish by saying he's not done yet? And before that, unsaid you'd never want him to coach any of your teams, but when on to talk about him being the greatest ever? It's almost like you are having a fight with yourself. Which is it? I also notice how you completely skipped over the posted analysis of why he fails and will continue to do so. He's done. He's a desperate man grasping at straws riding the waves of a past long gone. He could have also had a bit of luck in his favor in the beginning, right time right place. Whatever it was, whatever secret his success held, it's been years since anything approaching greatness showed itself. However, I do love watching him go down in flames. Every well earned failure exposes him. So I kind of hope he does continue to hop around. I say let him coach every team in the EPL. (But first, let me grab some popcorn)
DP. He really bothers you! That’s pure gold.
