Lived there for years and got out of that hell hole. Baltimore is a Democrat cesspool of corruption. They reap what they sow.
Pales in comparison to the corruption on Capitol Hill.
Also, if you want to talk about corruption in baltimore: - landfill city workers were getting millions in kickbacks and bribes to let out of City people dump their trash on the city - something like over half of all police and fire fighters in Baltimore claim workman's comp at one point. - it was uncovered a little while ago that the city comptroller hadn't even audited some departments in decades, even though that was literally what she was getting paid $200k per year for and why they are the #3 rnaked politician in the city. - Baltimore City schools 'lost' over 1000 computers one year - many unauthorized individuals in the baltimore City school system were caught at one point changing their hours to increase their overtime pay costing tax payers tons of money - school officials spent huge sums of cash to renovate their office and to buy expensive furniture while kids in Baltimore didn't have heat in the classrooms. - numerous instances of City officials using taxpayer dollars to fund things like booze cruise dinners for themselves, to get their hair done, and for swanky get aways for 'conferences' - millions upon millions spent on consultants who don't seem to solve anything and do work that city employees should bebcoabskr of doing. At one point they were paying a former police chief turned consultant something like $300-500 per hour just for advice on how to police. Iirc, the consultant nwad also a friend of the mayor. - Stephanie Rawlins Blake was always tied up in scandals with her while phone line debacle a while back that wasted tons of tax payer money. She also had a fancy dinner at one point at an inner harbor restaurant and spent $54,000 of campaign money on her going away party. SRB was also famous for blowing millions on consultants and left to go do consulting work for a high salary after being mayor. - Baltimore spends something like 40+% of its entire budget on police, which is unheard of for a city. Huge numbers of police get massive amounts of OT pay and some even make more money than the mayor or even the police commish. Then you have the whole corrupt gun task force and a heroin smuggling ring between Baltimore and Philly cops. - Pugh taken down by the FBI for healthy Holly - before SRB there was Dixon who was also indicted for allegations that she was stealing from children - back to Joan Pratt, the comptroller who never does her job for $200k per year, she was also recently mired conflicts of interest because she had an accounting firm on the side with multiple businesses in the city that also had to deal with the city for things like licenses. She hid it for years. - city officials have been caught before charging huge bills to the city taxpayers for consulting firms that City officials themselves were running out of their own homes. - the school system is so bad at accountability that it was once revealed that the bus company the city was using to bus kids was charging the same amount of money for fuel and mileage on every single bus, which is impossible if they all have different routes. - thanks to Jack young, Columbia businessman JP grant who funneled $150,000 to Pugh's bank account and who got $358,000 in commissions on a lucrative leasing aggrrement, will get *another* $300,000 on another deal. This is just the tip of the iceberg for corruption examples in Baltimore. Sorry, but the whole city is a cesspool of Democrat led corupption that bleeds the taxpayer coffers dry before any of the money gets used to actually do anything for the citizens of Baltimore. They then complain that they don't have enough tax money and subsequently subsequently raise taxes. They bleed it even more and the cycle repeats while crime gets worse, the population declines, and everything gets worse. Sorry, but it is much worse at the local level than capitol Hill because it affects you directly much more.
