Has anyone experienced assignment grades lowered after-the-fact without telling parents or had homework not graded and the Principal and Superintendent of Schools not correct it when it was pointed out to them (with the evidence)? I think this affected DC's admission into 6th Magnet this year.
Do you realize how many kids do not attend Magnet schools? Who do not get in for one reason or another? Or qualified kids who get into Magnet programs and decide not to go. Mine did that graduated from Yale, MIT, Stanford. I don't think my kids missed out at all. Nor do I think my children who did not get in had a worse education. As a matter of fact my one who did not get in and went to a lower tier college has an awesome career in Computer Science/Supply Chain Logistics. Of course Magnet schools are great for some kids, but they are not worth stressing your DC out for not gettin in. This is middle school. Focus on keeping your child interested in learning, being a hard worker, and being a decent human being. This is more about you than your child. Every students journey is different. It is what they make of it that is what is noteworthy.
