I was friendly with a preschool mom for years. We would see each other at birthday parties. At her daughter’s party, I met another mom that I really clicked with. We started going out just moms. That mom happens to also get along with some other friends of mine who don’t know the preschool mom. I don’t always invite the preschool mom. We are not next door neighbors though so it isn’t as obvious.

I have 2 friends I made at the same year. I had them over for a play date together and they hit it off. We used to hang out altogether but over the years, they started getting closer and they stopped inviting me. We do get together for larger parties but never one on ones. They even travel together and I have never been invited. I feel slightly bad but not really.

One of my closest friends now was a friend of a friend of mine. I met them at my friend’s birthday before I was married. I used to only see the friend of friend at my friend’s house. Turns out my DH and the other friend’s husband also get along and we all became close family friends. I have not seen the original friend in almost 5 years now but we get together with the mutual friend multiple times per year. We travel together often. They join us for holidays. They are now probably our closest family friend.

I would try not tot take it too personally. It just may be that they click more with her than you. [/quote]
