There is a range of normal, and 5.5 kids can be in that range for an 8 year old. My 4th grade DS and I wear the same size. Women's sizes are also cut much narrower than youth/men's. Big kid shoe sizes go 5, 5.5, 6, 6.5, 7 youth, then 7.5 men's. A 7 women's is a narrower 5.5 kids. Not that huge.[/quote]
