I never liked yoghurt when growing up, even though I had a decently sweet tooth as a child. It was always too sweet and a weird blend of sweet and sour. But as an adult I love yoghurt. The variety on offer today is so much better than 20 years ago. I now make my own and it's practically just a very heavy, slightly tangy, cream. My sweet tooth has also declined and I prefer savory these days.
So true - commercial yogurt has gotten so much better in the past 5-10 years. You used to choose between the plasticy-tasting sugar bombs, or the "healthy" yogurts that were somehow bland and sour at the same time. Now, I also mostly make my own, but there are varieties available that actually taste rich and creamy. Full fat definitely helps, I'm so glad the 80s "fat free" craze ended.
